what is extended foster care?(also known as ab12)

Extended Foster Care or AB12 is a law that allows foster youth to receive extended services after age 18 and until age 21.

The goal of AB12 is to provide foster youth with a safety net of support while experiencing independence in a secure and supervised living environment. This extended time can assist the youth in becoming better prepared for successful transition into adulthood and self-sufficiency through education and employment training.
